Itou Kashitarou is a distinguished scholar/poet/swordsman that tutored Heisuke T
do. He is introduced when he allies temporarily with the Shinsengumi, but creates much conflict, attempting to come closer to Chizuru, pointing out Sannan's injury and causing him to sink further into depression, and angering most of the main Shinsengumi characters. Later on, he is assasinated by the Shinsengumi. He has a rather fox-like, feminine appearance; with long black hair, strangely shaped bangs, slanted blue/purple eyes, and very pale skin. He apparently doesn't like taking off his clothes, as shown when Dr. Matsumoto orders a physical examination. Some fans have speculated he may have a rather femininely shaped body, or some sort of disfiguration. Given his obvious vanity, Itou would most likely hide such characteristics.
